Our Pastor



     Pastor Thom has served Prince of Peace since 1994. Originally from Minnesota, he came to California in 1978 to attend Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California.  He served his Internship in Cairo, Egypt, from 1981 to 1982 and continues to be active in building relationships with the Moslem and Coptic Orthodox communities. He graduated in 1983 and was ordained on June 26th, 1983.


     Pastor Thom and his family have lived in Claremont for the past 16 years, having moved there when he began his doctoral studies at Claremont School of Theology. He has two children, Nathaniel and Annalisa.  


     He graduated with his doctorate degree in 1996, and since then has served as an Adjunct Professor at Claremont School of Theology in the area of Religious Education. He has also serves on the Trustee Board and the Church Relations committee there. Before moving to Claremont, Pastor Thom served at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Fontana for 10 years.


     He also has published two books through Augsburg Fortress Publishing House: Confirmation: A Congregational Planner, 1999, and Celebrating the Seasons of Baptismal Living, 2001. You may purchase these books through his website; www.baptism4life.com

Pastor Thom has also organized a Spiritual Pilgrimage every two years since 1998.  His trips

have included:  Israel and Egypt, Greece and Turkey, Italy and Sicily, Denmark and Norway and Sweden, a Russian River cruise, Portugal and Spain, and the Amazon River.
